DPS sponsors 5 employees from Thorntons, Team - Cycle 100, as they cycle from John O’Groat’s to Lands End for NSPCC

Distribution Planning Software (DPS) headquartered in Halesowen, is pleased to announce that we are sponsoring NSPCC fundraisers "Cycle 100", 5 employees from Thorntons on a Cycle ride from John O’Groat’s to Lands End. They have set their sights on raising a total of £20,000 for the charity.

Thorntons employees Ryan Bishop, Leigh Alliss, Robert Butt, Jo Attenborough and Andrew Newbould are cycling from John O’Groat’s to Lands End in July. The plan is for them to visit 100 Thorntons stores along the way in 3 weeks, covering 1200 miles.

Paul Palmer , DPS’s Managing Director commented: "When we learned about Thorntons employees plan to cycle 1,200 miles in 3 Weeks, we were happy to get involved with sponsoring their venture. Cycle 100 is all in aid of Thorntons charity of the year the NSPCC, so we’re really proud to be supporting such a fantastic cause which is committed to ending cruelty for children in the UK."

Celebrating 100 Years of Thorntons Thorntons is the UK’s best loved chocolatier and is celebrating its 100th birthday this year. Established by Joseph William Thornton in 1911, its very first shop was opened in Sheffield, where Joseph handed the keys to his teenage sons Norman and Stanley and said:

“Make this the best sweet shop in town!”, Well, they didn’t do a bad job, did they?

Today, they are based in Derbyshire and employ some 4,000 chocolate lovers around the UK. They are proud to be one of the best-loved and oldest names on the high street.
