Vehicle Routing Software
There are two versions of Route Logix available, see the links above for more about the versions.
Route LogiX is the dominant professional vehicle routing software system in the European market. In some countries DPS have a market share of over 95%. For example in Sweden, DPS vehicle routing systems are the ONLY recommended software by the Road Haulage Association (test summer 1998, see www.akeri.se ). Route LogiX is available in Danish, Finnish, English, French, Dutch, Norwegian, Italian, Spanish, Swedish and German.
Given a list of placenames, postcodes, addresses or coordinates, the user is given a map of the route and a detailed itinerary. The system contains a digital map that can also show customers, orders, tourist information etc.. This is what is normally called a 'Route Planning System'. DPS have several systems available, each is optimised to meet a specific target group. Excellent system design gives the user fast and accurate vehicle routing within an extremely user-friendly environment that requires no or very little training.
These systems share one common limitation; this level of technology handles planning of ONE route/vehicle at a time.
